Professor Daniel Olawale Awodiya
Professor ‘Wale Awodiya is an author, educator, and political/public relations consultant, who has been practicing in the United States and in many countries of Africa, especially Nigeria, in the last twenty-five years. He recently published books on Customer Relations, Principles of Public Speaking, and Effective Employee and Management Communication. Awodiya is the author of the widely acclaimed textbook on Human Communication (see our website) currently being used in colleges and universities in the U.S.
As a full Professor of Communication, he has been teaching various courses in Strategic Business Communication, Public Speaking, Persuasive Strategies and Intercultural Relations, Listening, Small Group, Mass Media, Public Relations and Advertising, Research Methodology, and other academic courses at various Colleges and Universities in the United States and Nigeria for the past thirty-two years. For eight years, he was the head of the Communication unit of The College of New Rochelle’s School of New Resources in New York.
Professor Awodiya started his professional development training career in 1988, when he presented a workshop on "Communication in the Organization," and "Stress Management" to a group of Senior Civil Servants in the District of Columbia, Washington government in the United States.
A member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), he has authored several scholarly articles on Communication, Education, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing and Sales. In addition, he has organized several workshops on Integrated Business Communication and Education in both the United States and Nigeria.
Awodiya, who obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Lagos, left Nigeria in 1985 for the United States. In 1991, he received his Doctorate degree in Human Communication from Howard University in Washington D.C.
Awodiya has experience working with clients from different parts of the world. He was a political consultant to two presidential candidates, one in Asia and the other in Nigeria. In the recent past, he served as a member of an educational review committee for accreditation in a major U.S. college. In Nigeria, prior to travelling to the United States, he rose to become a Zonal Public Relations Manager in NITEL and had stints in different communication enterprises as reporter, writer, sub-editor, editor, and public relations officer.

In 2008, he wrote a popular LULU PRESS worldwide best selling book titled "Homesless in Paradise Communicating with the Venice Beach,CA Subculture." Subsequently, the book was used by Hollywood Star and British Actor Russell Brand for a portion of his upcoming movie documentary titled "Russell's Happy Project," which is in production. O'Connell's has produced, directed, and edited for commercial and many community service film pieces: Special Olympics Long Island, Mosaic, Actor Danny Aiello and NY Yankees Ray Negron's Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Video, Conflict Within and Without, A Yankee Miracle, Pitch for a Cure, Hells Angels, Venice After Dark, Phountain, Vagina Monologues, Treeman of Venice and Tree Awakenings, Hanks Yanks, The People Project, and his work with Oppenheimer funds earned the Most Creative Award 2012.
